Product Description |
Towering over other dinosaurs, the terrible T-Rex ran swiftly with long strides. Although it looked menacing, the T-Rex had little use for its short arms which only had two claws and could not reach its mouth. At almost twenty feet high and almost forty feet long, the T-Rex was not a great hunter but a scavenger, eating what other animals or dinosaurs left behind. Even though it had over fifty teeth that were over six inches long, its teeth were not used to chew but to tear since it swallowed its meals in chunks. To have better depth perception in looking for its next meal, the eyes of the T-Rex were both pointed forward so that its vision overlapped. Fun Facts: The skull and jaw of the T-Rex were almost as tall as the height of a school bus. Zoological Name:Tyrannosaurus Rex Conservation Status: Extinct Primary Habitat: Forest Global Home: North America Scale: 1:40

I went back and forth between ordering this T Rex figure and another one, in the end I chose this one and IT IS AMAZING. It's detail is FANTASTIC. It is really sturdy and has no problem standing on it's own. Mine is named Ice T-Rex.
Nice traditional Tyrannosaurus Rex replica

Schleich makes several Tyrannosaurus Rex replicas. This one is very well done, and I bought it because it is in the more traditional pose balanced on his feet and tail. The model is very well finished, and the photos really don't do it justice. For one, the model is BIG... about a foot long and nearly a foot tall, and it weighs in at nearly 2 lbs. The paint job is fairly simple and subdued, but that is good. I don't like bright, garish dinosaur replicas myself. The surface detailing is restrained but well done. This Tyrannosaurus isn't covered with warts and pebbly skin but is more lean and muscled. The model is probably based on the old Charles R. Knight artwork, which is not a bad thing. Includes a small multi language information card on the creature and a 1/40 plastic human figure for scale comparison.

I bought this item (and a Spinosaurus by the same company at the same time) for one of my nephews. He had just turned 3 at the time so I can't really rate the educational value much. He prefers his more vibrantly colored dinosaurs, however he does very much like these, because they are large and sturdy and he's allowed to play with them in the dirt and in the bathtub, which is a HUGE plus for little boys as tactile toys are a big part of their world. Ok, turns out I *can* rate it on education--this is a great toy for children who like to play in dirt and water and sand with toys that will not be damaged by those conditions! The paint is somewhat coming off but really...he's 3...he bangs them against other hard objects. Nothing is invincible when it comes to little boys. I give this 5 stars overall as it's a dino he'll be interested in long after all the paint falls off. Hey, maybe he'll repaint it himself when he's ten or so!
NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!

I ORDERED THIS DINO A WHILE BACK FROM THIS SAME COMPANY, BUT THE PICTURE THAT I SEE ON HERE LOOKS WAY BETTER THAN THE MODEL I PURCHASED!!! MINE WAS MADE BY SCHLEICH (IN CHINA) AND I'M DISAPPOINTED IN IT. ESPECIALLY AFTER SEEING THE CURRENT PICTURE! MINE DOESN'T LOOK AS LIFE-LIKE. AND I WANT TO ORDER THE ONE I SEE ON THE PICTURE, BUT I'M SCARED THAT I'LL GET THE SAME THING I HAVE NOW.
